Full-Time Campus Organizer
How will you get results on important issues? Well for one thing, you won’t spend a lot of time sitting behind a desk. Instead, you’ll get out and organize where there are young passionate people, people who care as much about these issues as you do, and who have the drive and energy to make change happen. That’s why we’re sending organizers to college campuses like UCLA, Rutgers, University of Oregon, and more.
Each campus organizer starts by finding and recruiting the students who really care about the issues we work on. Next, you’ll figure out who amongst those students could be good leaders, and teach them how to organize and run a campaign. You help give them the skills they need, so they can do everything from plan and run a press conference to organizing a huge event on campus.
Finally, campus organizers make sure that all these individual events and efforts add up to meaningful change. You’ll set concrete goals, and hold yourself accountable to achieving them, whether that’s getting 100 students to take photo petitions to send to KFC headquarters, or registering 500 new voters on campus. And when you combine those efforts at dozens of colleges across the country, each of those goals can add up to make a real impact.
That’s why we organize on campus. And over the years, our organizers have helped students win major victories. For example, students in Massachusetts helped pass a landmark global warming bill, making Massachusetts one of the first states in the nation with a comprehensive plan to address climate change. Students in New Jersey helped 16 communities go on record against Citizens United, joining a nationwide movement of 17 states and nearly 700 towns and cities. And last year, students helped convince McDonald’s and Subway, two of America’s most iconic fast food brands, to take important steps to protect public health by committing to stop serving meats raised on antibiotics.
We’re looking for people who have the passion and the drive it takes to win positive change on these important issues. People who aren’t afraid of hard work, who are excited to recruit and train students to run campaigns, while organizing and building the campus chapter into something that works — now, and for years to come. If that sounds like you, consider working with us.
