Full-Time Development Manager

Job Description

SUMMARY

One To World, a non-profit educational organization dedicated to creating global citizens and inspiring a peaceful world, is seeking a full-time Development Manager to lead and implement strategies to meet the organization’s annual fundraising goals, working closely with One To World’s executive staff, consultants, and Board of Directors, as well as supervising a Development Coordinator, an intern and volunteers.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s preferred)
  • At least five years of development experience in a non-profit setting
  • Solid track record in successful grant-writing from various foundations and/or corporations
  • Personnel management experience required
  • Experience in fundraising events preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills with avid attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills (cross-cultural sensitivity a must)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook, and Word); experience with mail merge functions a must; database experience preferred
  • Experience with web development, html newsletters, graphic design, or desktop publishing a plus
  • Confident self-starter, ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • High energy and enthusiasm for the position; willingness to go the extra mile and do what it take to get the job done
  • Creative, sense of humor, “can-do” attitude, and strategic thinker

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Annual Benefit Event (30%)
    1. Work with the Development Consultant and Executive Director to organize One To World’s annual benefit dinner
    2. Manage all benefit event-related data
    3. Oversee processing of all incoming gifts and preparation of acknowledgements
    4. Manage and execute benefit event mailings and follow-up
  • Foundation/Corporate Grants (25%)
    1. Lead foundation and corporate grant outreach, including grant research, cultivation, and stewardship
    2. Work with the development team, including grant-writing consultant, and program staff to prepare foundation proposals and supporting materials
    3. Assist the program staff in identifying and cultivating corporate sponsors
  • Data Management (20%)
    1. Ensure that donor correspondence is tracked consistently (related to direct mail, major giving, foundation outreach, and benefit event) in database (Raiser’s Edge).
    2. Design and perform queries, exports, and imports as needed for individual giving, foundation outreach, and annual benefit event.
  • Individual Giving and Donor Cultivation (20%)
    1. Work with the development team to create and prepare all individual giving appeals
    2. Oversee large-scale mailings
    3. Oversee processing of all incoming gifts and preparation of acknowledgements
    4. Oversee and execute donor cultivation and stewardship

 

  • Other Duties (5%)
    1. Maintain the overall development work plan
    2. Lead the development of content and monitor the functionality of the fundraising areas of the organization’s website
    3. Represent One To World to diverse constituencies and facilitate partnerships to help reach development goals
    4. Assume additional tasks as necessary and mutually agreed upon for the successful implementation of development strategies and general office well-being
