Job Description

Magic Box Productions, a non-profit media arts education organization that brings media arts programs (video, animation, and photography) to New York area schools, is seeking a Programs Manager with the flexibility to travel to NYC school sites, work remotely and also spend one day a week in the Westchester Office.

Reporting to the Executive Director,  and the Operations Manager, the Programs Manager will work with the office staff, the media Teaching Artists and the school administrators in planning and coordinating the daily logistics and activities at multiple program sites in partnering schools and community centers.

Interested candidates should have the following qualifications:

  •       Project management experience
  •       Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  •       Strong organizational skills, with a sharp eye for details and good ‘follow-through’ ability
  •       Solid computer skills, primarily Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  •       Self-initiative: Must be collaborative, flexible, able to juggle multiple priorities, and be willing to work independently
  •       Time flexibility (some program meetings and events happen after school hours)
  •       Media arts background a plus
  •       Integrity and good humor are required

Specific duties and responsibilities of the position will include, but are not limited to the following

  • Serve as a liaison between Magic Box administration, Teaching Artists, and School staff and administration
  • Manage a diverse group of independent contractors (Teaching Artists) to deliver the highest degree of service to our school partners
  • Organize, maintain and disseminate program schedule and contact information for programs at multiple sites to program sites, teaching artists and teachers
  • Attend in person and lead administration/ planning meetings with the school and the Teaching Artist
  • Work closely with the MBP Education Manager to ensure residencies run smoothly and manage schedules during residencies
  • Create, collect and analyze survey data for each residency
  • Ensure all final media is uploaded to the Google drive and shared with appropriate parties
  • Help plan and coordinate culminating events
  • Work with Teaching Artists to assess and oversee organization, delivery and pickup of equipment and supplies
  • Develop and foster positive and collaborative relationships between Magic Box and school staff

Hours: 30 hours/week with some flexibility

Optimal Start Date: September 2018
