ABOUT THE ROLE This job is ideal for a passionate professional with the desire to create deep relationships and collaborate with nonprofit clients and pro bono consultants across the full spectrum of the program management lifecycle – including leading consultations with nonprofit executives, matching nonprofit needs with pro bono expertise, managing multi-month pro bono projects and facilitating one-day pro bono events, as well as being a key part of continuing to improve and grow our programs. The Program Manager is based in our New York office and works with the dynamic team of Program Managers across Taproot’s three other offices. Some light travel to other markets is expected in this role (average once per quarter). This role reports to the Director of Program Delivery who is based in Los Angeles.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the successful oversight of a portfolio of  pro bono consulting projects in New York City and surrounding areas
  • Accountable for the successful coordination and facilitation of Taproot’s one-day pro bono program offerings such as Pro Bono Marathon and Pro Bono Speed Consulting
  • Assessing nonprofits’ organizational challenges/needs and aiding in producing high-level scopes of work to address these challenges, leveraging business professionals’ skills to match nonprofit need
  • Training and coaching cross-functional pro bono consultant teams and nonprofit “clients”
  • Engaging with Taproot’s nonprofit and volunteer communities, supporting and driving engagement and serving as a leader in the local field when relevant
  • Partnering within the national Program Team to support effective program implementation across markets as needed Strategic Management and Operations
  • Responsible for New York’s overall successful implementation of annual program delivery goals
  • Partnering with Taproot’s External Relations team to forecast, manage, and plan program delivery against our operating goals in New York City and surrounding areas.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • 4+ years of experience managing complex projects to completion on time and meeting quality standards, preferably in a nonprofit or consulting environment
  • Innovative, highly organized self-starter who thrives in a fast-moving entrepreneurial environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to assess and understand the needs of distinct audiences and communicate comfortably and effectively across a range of stakeholders
  • Extreme attention to detail with ease connecting back to big picture
  • Ability to successfully prioritize and manage a portfolio of projects
  • Ability to work independently while working as a highly effective partner with other departments and offices and as a member of a national team
  • Previous experience with event coordination and facilitation
